In 2017, Flanders chose its favourite archive footage by participating in the Image Capsule. Leading up to Heritage Day on April 22 - this year’s subject being electing - we’re sharing five selected clips from the Image Capsule 2117 over the coming weeks. This ‘magic movie’ from the House of Alijn shows a true love for the medium film and for the experiment.
Chances are you also placed a crazy filter over your face with your smartphone on selfie mode these last few years. The past decades, cameras conquered territory in our daily lives as a way to save memories, but also as a way to create new ones. A father from Gistel, together with his five sons, experimented with film and editing in the fading colors of the sixties. That way, he was way ahead of today’s edited videos.
The House of Alijn has a passion for everyday life in the twentieth century and on Heritage Day, it lets you decide, among other things, which object defines the past twenty years. Discover all other activities in the renewed museum in Ghent on the website of Heritage Day.
