Through the pilot project 'Active Archive’, the Archive for Education supports teachers who want to actively use archive material.
In a downloadable toolkit, teachers can find image material on a number of topics as well as tips about storyboards and filming itself (framing, editing and sound). They can also find further information about legal matters, such as the permission to share just any video or filming strangers on the street. In this way, classes can combine available fragments with their own material.
The school College van Melle has already had a go in one of our test projects.
The chosen topics included bullying, the environment, mobility (primary education), subculture and youth culture, technology and borders (secondary education). As for the practical and media-related tips and storyboard examples for each of these topics, we are currently looking for an organisation with sufficient background in education; probably VZW Jekino.
This project started at the beginning of 2017, in cooperation with CANON Cultuurcel.
